Hello Y11AB!

Welcome to Y11 English!

Unfortunately, I am away from school on a School Exchange in Scotland until the 18th of September, I look forward to meeting you when I get back. In my absence, I would like you to complete the following work. If you have any problems/ don´t understand something, please ask Mr Mummery.

Our introduction unit will be about how to learn languages. I would like you to think about your own experiences but also read the texts for some ideas.
1)      Read the text David Sedaris – Me Talk Pretty One Day
Underline and look up any words you don´t understand in a dictionary or on www.wordreference.com. You might need to read it more than once.
2)      Answer the 3 discussion questions in your notebooks – between 70 – 100 words per question
3)      Read the text entitled ´How actively watching films made me learn Spanish´

·         What is your opinion of this man´s approach to language learning?
·         How does this man´s approach differ/compare to your own approach?

5)      Complete a piece of writing 250 – 300 words giving advice to people who have just started to learn a foreign language – use your own personal experience of language learning as well as ideas from the text.
